BUILDING/ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR
After graduating from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1972,
Allan attended Brescia College in 1973-74. Allan completed
a residential and commercial electrical course at Owensboro
Vocational School in 1980.
Allan
worked as an electrician from 1978 to 1989. In December 1984,
Allan went to work as a mechanical instructor for the Home
Builders Institute at the City of Owensboro's Allen Street
project. The project was a joint venture between the Owensboro
Metropolitan Planning Commission, State of Kentucky, and HBI,
to retrain displaced workers in construction skills while
totally rehabbing two older houses. Allan also passed his
City Journeyman Electrician exam in 1983.
Allan joined the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission
staff in May 1989 as a Rehabilitation Specialist for the Community
Development Division. Allan transferred to the Building and
Electrical Division of the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning
Commission as a Building and Electrical Inspector in June
of 1995. Allan has achieved the Commonwealth of Kentucky requirements
to be certified as:
Electrical Inspector
One and Two Family Dwelling Inspector
Level I Building Inspector
Level II Building Inspector
Allan is an active member of the International Association
of Electrical Inspectors and the Code Administrators Association
of Kentucky, and successfully meets the continuing education
requirements each year as mandated by the Commonwealth of
Kentucky.
Duties include making inspections for compliance with applicable
building and electrical codes during all phases of construction
for residential, commercial , and industrial projects.
