CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST
An Owensboro native, Jim graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1972. After receiving his Associate Degree in Architecture from the University of Kentucky in 1980, he worked for seven years as a private building contractor in Lexington, Kentucky.

Jim Mischel - Associate Director of Building and Electrical
Jim joined the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission staff in 1984 and became the Associate Director of the Building and Electrical offices in 1996. He has achieved and maintained building inspector certifications through the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He currently holds the following certifications:
- One and Two family Dwelling Inspector
- Level I Building Inspector
- Level II Building Inspector
- Level III Plans and Specifications Inspector
Jim held the position as Associate Director of Building, Electrical and HVAC until 2012 when he accepted a position with the OMPC as part time customer service specialist. Jim will be assisting the customer through the processes that they need to accomplish their goals. He will also be assisting the OMPC staff to assure appropriate, timely and effective customer service follow through. Jim will be aiding the OMPC to provide the most efficient customer service possible, which should eliminate delays and allow projects to move forward following as closely as possible the customer’s development schedule.
Jim will spend his time providing information to the public, developers, surveyors, engineers and builders relative to the applicable processes they need to undertake in order to realize their goals. He will also spend time tracking projects and communicating with the OMPC staff in order to inform the customer quickly of what is required and how to move forward to achieve necessary approvals.
