PLANNING TECHNICIAN
Melissa Evans was raised in Owensboro. She graduated from Apollo High School and has attended the Owensboro Community College, the University of Kentucky and is currently completing her Bachelor’s degree at Western Kentucky University.
Melissa started with the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission as a receptionist. Her primary responsibilities included answering the OMPC phone lines and directing calls to the appropriate person for prompt customer assistance. She also provided and continues to provide a variety of support services to the planning staff.
Melissa began her new position as Planning Technician in April of 2007. Her new duties will include:
- Assisting the public with zonings and flood map information
- Assigning addresses to newly created lots and existing lots not previously addressed
- Createing new addresses in Tidemark permitting system
- Updateing several data bases supporting 911 emergency services
- Completeing folder information for all new applications
- Maintaining bond files and trackig transfers and releases
- General duties as required
- Assisting with GIS data input
- Updating of OMPC website
